Always remember, Internships are for learning. So, Either you do Paid or Unpaid internships doesn’t matter. If you are getting paid and there is no learning curve then your internship is not worth doing.

After completion of your internship, your recruiter will ask “What have you learned during your internship?” If you can’t answer this question then obviously you will again search for another internship from where you can learn things.

As an intern, your main goals should be:

• Talking to colleagues to figure out who does what and how?
• Learning how organisations work as a whole
• Soaking up as much knowledge about your field as possible (and deciding if it’s actually something you want to pursue).

There are many students who start their internship certification in different fields and later they switch their lines and do jobs in other fields.

Well, The thing is most of the companies have their own training programs. The company has to spend a lot of time and money getting you up to speed on how to do the job. And on top of it, most of the companies don’t agree to pay also as it’s just not worth it for them.

Let’s answer the question, Should I accept unpaid or free internships or not?

If you’re applying for a reputable company, then an unpaid internship will be worth doing. At the end of your internship, you will know that you’re going to get valuable experience from there. On the other hand, if you do unpaid internships in less reputable companies there will be one thing which helps you to boost your career up and that is “Learning”. Startups are always the best way to learn and help you grow in your career. And if any startup agrees to pay along with your internship that will be the cherry on top.

Growth is not just getting higher pay or getting into big companies, Growth means every month how much you have grown. In MNCs, you easily get a higher package but there you will be restricted to do one simple task. But in startups, you do multiple tasks in a day. You will be ready for a management position as you learned everything by yourself.
